Physical Education
At St John’s, we believe in providing all children with enjoyable opportunities, in a safe, supportive and challenging environment, to discover and develop their physical potential in a way that supports their health and fitness, promotes physical confidence and healthy, active lifestyles. We aim to provide a high-quality physical education curriculum that develops the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing confidence and competence in a range of physical activities.
The Physical Education curriculum at St John’s is based on the ‘Get Set for PE’ scheme of work and provides a balanced and developmental programme of activities from Early Years through to year 6. Each unit shows how the skills and knowledge gained in previous year group are developed and applied to specific sports and skills. The children will also develop an understanding of the importance of healthy competition against either themselves (personal best) or other children.
